Lead Free PCB Assembly

The restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment is commonly known as the RoHS Directive.

The RoHS Directive banned the introduction into the EU market of new Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) containing more than set levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium and certain flame retardants from 1st July 2006.

Since that time, Northern Hi-Tec has provided RoHS compliant, or more familiarly lead-free, PCB assembly services for all of our clients.

We have a lead-free PCB assembly process including specific reflow ovens and wave soldering and hand soldering equipment, which is capable of manufacturing simple single-sided PCB assemblies through to multi-layer PCB assemblies with large ground planes.

In addition, as there are still a number of exempt applications and market segments from the RoHS regulations, we can provide a bill of materials 'conversion service' for those clients wishing to convert their leaded product into lead-free assemblies.
